Pro-Series BBQ Competition

A Pro-Series contest is a two day contest that typically begins on a Friday and continues into Saturday.  There are also several Saturday/Sunday contests as well.  This contest brings in the teams with the large smokers and trailers and involves 4 meats (chicken, ribs, pork, brisket) which require overnight preparation and cooking.

Pro-Series contests may take site sizes as large as 20×40 for each contestant with normal sites being around 20×25.  These contests require electric for each contestant to be normally a 20amp service, but some teams may request more.  The prizes and awards are typically larger.  Contests with higher payouts attract more teams from further away.  Each team captain must be a member of the society.

You may also include a separate Backyard Series contest at your event for no additional sanctioning fees.

To get started, please contact us at sanctioning@stlouisbbqsociety.com to discuss a contest date and location.  Click here for a calendar to help you choose a date.

Once we get a date established, please fill out the SLBS Pro-Series Sanctioning Document and apply online, mail or email the application in along with the $50 application fee.  If you wish to pay this fee online, you may do so at the links at the bottom of this page.

For a new contest, we will have to approve the contest at the next regular board of directors meeting, which is typically held on the first Thursday of each month.  Once the contest is approved, you will be assigned an ambassador that will help you get your contest off of the ground.

No less than 90 days prior to your contest date, the remainder of your contest fees are due, as well as providing us with the required certificate of insurance with the society listed as an additional insured.  You can mail the form and check to us, or you can email the form and pay the remaining fees at the link at the bottom of this page.

Upon the conclusion of your contest, there will be a Team of the Year (TOY) fee due for each Pro-Series team that competes in your event.

You will find all of this information as well as additional setup instruction in the sanctioning document.

All contests are responsible for adhering to the rules and to the terms of the sanctioning agreement.
