The Friends of Jefferson Barracks is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of Jefferson Barracks Park Historic Site in South St. Louis County, Missouri. The FJB members contribute their time, energy, and money to make this goal a reality.
The Friends of Jefferson Barracks plays an active role in the management of the park through a wide variety of volunteer service projects and fundraising activities. The FJB offers many opportunities for participation including the Adults Easter Egg Hunt, World War II Weekend, Historic Hayrides, Concerts, Car Shows, Swap Meets, the Candlelight Holiday Dinner, and other events. In addition, many FJB members volunteer as Museum Attendants, Trail Watchers, or Gardeners at the Historic Laborer’s House in the Park.
The Friends of Jefferson Barracks operates the Gift Shop located on the lower level of the Visitors Center (pictured above right). Funds generated in this shop and at FJB events help to purchase historic artifacts, support historical exhibits and displays, and contract needs and services necessary to the operation of the park. Funds raised by the FJB have made possible the restoration of the upper level of the Visitors Center and the building of the Stockton Shelter next to the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, among other projects.
