Other Contest Types

SLBS also offers additional types of contest sanctioning.  You may want to have a steak contest, a pork steak contest or a side dish competition that does not fit into the traditional Pro-Series or Backyard Series BBQ competitions.  We now can provide impartial professional judges for your event.  You can choose from a 1 day competition with 2 categories or a 2 day competition with 4 categories.  Each additional category would only add $25.

To get started, please contact us at [email protected] to discuss a contest date and location.

Once we get a date established, please fill out the SLBS Misc Contest Sanctioning Document and mail or email the application in along with the $50 deposit/application fee.  If you wish to pay this fee online, you may do so at the links at the bottom of this page.

For a new contest, we will have to approve the contest at the next regular board of directors meeting which is typically held on the first Thursday of each month.  Once the contest is approved, you will be assigned an ambassador that will help you get your contest off of the ground.

No less than 90 days prior to your contest date, the remainder of your contest fees are due as well as providing us with the required certificate of insurance with the society listed as an additional insured.  You can mail the form and check to us, or you can email the form and pay the remaining fees at the link at the bottom of this page.

All contests are responsible for adhering to the rules and to the terms of the sanctioning agreement.

  • All requests whether monetary or in kind, shall be made in writing
    • Requests should contain information regarding the event or cause, what the funds will be used for and how this will support the community.
  • Requests should be mailed via USPS, or electronic mail. They can also be presented in person.
  • Requests should be made, at a minimum, prior to the first Thursday of the month in which the donation is required. This will allow time for the board to consider the request.
